The Texas Blueberry Marketing Association (TBMA) is a
cooperative formed & operated by its producing members. TBMA was formed in 1988 and is
a major component of the Texas Blueberry industry. It is the Association philosophy to
work together to provide a high quality product in sufficient volumes to supply its
customers needs at a fair market price. TBMA operates with a Board of Directors, General
Manager, Sales Manager & working committees to handle sales, production, fruit
quality, transportation & grower technical support. TBMA consists of 51 producing
members consisting of 690 acres located from Southeast Texas/ Louisiana state line to the
northern corner of Texas, Louisiana & Arkansas State lines. Production levels have
increased over the past 5 years to a 1.4 million-lb. crop in 1997 & an estimated 1.6
million-lb. crop in 1998. TBMA is a non-profit organization with producing members
controlling all expenses & operations to market a quality crop efficiently. Our
harvest season generally begins with low volume production in late April to early May with
volumes increasing in late May, & production volumes peaking in mid June, then
declining until end of season is reached in late July.
